Hubsan H501S X4 release details
Hubsan is finally coming out with some new products one of them being the brand new Hubsan X4 H501S which is an FPV quadcopter that includes an HD 1080P camera, GPS capabilities, headless mode, one key return, altitude hold and a follow me function, as you can see it’s super feature packed and looks very modern.
Camera quality on this quadcopter is listed right now as being 1080p, it isn’t clear if this will be the resolution that is recorded but it is using 5.8Ghz for video transmission to the display on the transmitter, the transmission range is 300m+ which is a really long distance and I expect pretty clear video from this quad.
The Hubsan X4 H501S included an onboard GPS and barometer, these are super great to have on a quadcopter and really make it an easier to use quadcopter, with these components I expect the headless mode will work much better than quadcopters without GPS and that the return to home function will actually return to home instead of flying off in some random direction like some cheaper quadcopters.
Headless mode and return to home work best the more sensors you have so the GPS and barometer should help out a lot with this. The return to home function on this quadcopter also functions as a failsafe so if your quadcopter were to lose transmitter signal it will fly back to you instead of falling to the ground.
A couple of other neat feature are altitude hold which does exactly what it sounds like and uses the barometric pressure sensor to keep your quadcopter at whatever height you set it to, the other feature is the “follow me function” which again is exactly what it sounds like, a feature where your quadcopter follows you. These are both awesome additions to this quadcopter and we’ll see how well they work when Hubsan starts shipping.
The quadcopter comes with a basic transmitter as pictured above but Hubsan also released some pictures of what looks like 2 additional transmitters that I assume are optional extras, in the image below the transmitter listed as “Option 1” seems like it has the same functionality as the one included while the transmitter listed as “Option 2” looks like it has a map with waypoints mapped out, it will be interesting to see if this second option will allow you to set a path for your gps to follow and have the follow that path.
This quadcopter has some conflicting information in regards to flight time and is listed at anywhere between 20-25 minutes of flight time with its 2300mAh 7.4V battery, even it were 20 minutes that would still be an excellent amount of flight time.
That’s all for this look at the new Hubsan X4 H501S, be sure to read below for additional specs and for what is included with the quadcopter and make sure to check the website listing for more information, also remember that these details may not be 100% set in stone so some things could change between now and release.
