Syma X8HG is a great new quadcopter with HD camera

Syma X8HG

Post edited 11/2/16: Removed a lot of old confusing information, mostly removed references to FPV video which was hinted at but wasn’t actually a feature.

Syma is once again rehashing their quadcopters and the Syma X8HG is one of the latest, it is an upgrade of the X8G and includes an HD Camera, FPV streamed to your phone, flip mode, headless mode, and my favorite feature of all – altitude hold.

The camera appears to be the same as the X8G in the pictures and 10809 video but is only mentioned in the title and nowhere else, FPV is also mentioned in the title AND in the description so there is some confusion on the specs.

My theory is that the camera on the Syma X8HG will record the same quality video as the X8G to a microSD card AND stream at a lower quality to your phone for FPV purposes no FPV video included.

It’s slightly more expensive than the X8G which leads me to believe the added extra cost was for the FPV.

Video on the X8G was great and with the added upgrade to FPV I expect this quadcopter to be amazing for recording videos with the FPV so you can see what you’re looking at and altitude hold to steady your video.

I am very happy they’ve included altitude hold in this upgrade, it’s a must have feature for any quadcopter that records HD video and helps keep your videos nice and steady. Altitude hold works by monitoring air pressure using a barometric pressure sensor and uses this information to hold your quadcopter at a specific air pressure, it does this by adjusting throttle to keep your quad at a specific pressure value that corresponds with it’s altitude.

As far as the transmitter goes it seems to be the same as the X8G and makes no mention of being able to turn altitude hold on or off, I would assume they will include a way to turn it on/off and that this is just an oversight on current information but until there is confirmation either way the question remains. Other than that you have all of your basic controls you normally find on a transmitter, nothing super special.

  1. Hello do you know ehwn syma x8hg will be available?

  2. Hi, Does it really only have a 720p camera? Seems a bit of a step back since the X8G has a 1080p camera. On a couple of other sites they do mention a 1080P camera though. Can you confirm what it really is? Thanks!

    • You know I’m not too sure Gabriel, I noticed that too when the X8HG was announced but I was just going by what the actual store pages said on Banggood and Gearbest. Neither of them mention a 1080p camera so I didn’t want to mention it if it didn’t 100% have one.
