WLtoys Q353 quick look
Lets take a quick look a the new WLtoys Q353 which is an “Aeroamphibious” quadcopter that can fly, swim and drive on land. In addition to being able to go anywhere this quadcopter features 4 speed modes, headless mode, and one key return.
So the obvious appeal to this quadcopter is the water mode which basically turns it into a boat and floats on the water. This is made possible by what looks like Styrofoam pontoons attached to the sides.
This feature is likely to work pretty well as the buoyancy of styrofoam is quite high (they use it on real boats!) and I am going to assume since it is getting a little bit wet that the circuit boards will have some sort of waterproofing.
The land mode might be lackluster to some since the wheels are so small and that means the WLtoys Q353 doesn’t sit up very high. This puts using it in grass or gravel out of the picture but it should work just fine on a hardwood floor or concrete
Battery wise you get a 2S 1200mAh battery which offers 6-7 minutes of flight time and doesn’t appear to be removable, this is probably due to the waterproofing.
In addition to the different flight modes this one also features 4 different speed modes which is quite nice and allows a wide skill level range of flyers to fly.
The transmitter included with this one is the one WLtoys includes with a lot of their quadcopters and is by far my favorite transmitter for these cheaper priced quadcopters.
This transmitter also features a dedicated button for each speed mode, 2 additional buttons on the front, 2 shoulder buttons, and features longer control sticks for more precise control.
In addition to the nice button layout it also has a GIANT and BRIGHT LCD display so if you’re someone with poor eyesight this is a great quadcopter for you.
It does however looks like this one comes with a Euro power adapter so you’ll either have to get a cheap wall adapter or if you have a dedicated charged this one be a problem.
Overall I think the WLtoys Q353 is a pretty damn cool looking quadcopter and I’m excited to see what the performance is like when you get it into the water. I said it above but the transmitter is very nice as well and to me is just another selling point for the user. Click the button below to buy one for yourself.
