Today we’re checking out the X8T which is a new quadcopter featuring folding arms, altitude hold, headless mode, one key return, flip mode, and up to 6 minutes of flight time.
The folding arms are the main feature of this quadcopter and it’s definitely one of the better implementations of it that I have seen.
They’ve designed the back propellers to be slightly higher than the front meaning the the front arms fold underneath the back making it more compact. In addition to the arms they’ve also made it so the landing gear folds underneath the quadcopter, overall a pretty solid design IMO.
Looking at the propellers they’ve put each one on its own axis which makes them more impact resistant and easier to replace should they actually break.
Altitude hold is a cool feature which allows the drone to hold its height without any having to micro manage the throttle and lets you focus instead on maneuvering.
The transmitter for the X8T is actually pretty nice looking featuring a more “console controller” style body, flat style control sticks, easy to reach buttons, and an LCD screen in the center.
A neat extra feature they’ve included is the “throw to fly” feature where you can toss the quadcopter in the air, press the throttle, and it will auto stabilize then hover.
Overall the X8T is looking to be a decent folding quadcopter and the addition of altitude hold for such a low price makes it even more enticing. Definitely one of the better “folding” implementations that I have seen and the battery life is also decent for the size and cost. Click the button below to pick one up for yourself.
